I couldn't agree more with the sentiments you express. I have the same issue with talented actor and raving lunatic Mel Gibson, who can certainly act and direct films with the best of them, but I'd probably end up knocking the shit out of if we met at a bar in real life. Much lower brow than Wagner but the first artistically gifted, foaming at the mouth racist to come to mind all the same.

They are all amazing relative to their styles. Mozart and Wagner cannot be compared in that they lived in completely different eras. They made the best of what was available at the time.

I wouldn't say so. Williams, in my opinion, is as least as great as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Wagner. The others may not be but Williams is for sure.
