Madonna always knows how to build up tension and anticipation as her show starts. The Confessions Tour started off with a haunting bassline. With an Equestrian theme for the first part of the show, the large screens show running horses (taken from the Steven Klein video) and the sound of the gallopping shakes the whole room. Madonna's face appears on the screens, quoting the intro of Future Lovers, while a giant disco ball is lowered from the ceiling. Before an amazed crowd, the ball opens and Madonna appears from inside. She's dressed in Gaultier riding gear, inspired by Romy Schneider's character in Ludwig, and has her dancers/horses gallopping beside her. She cracks her whip on them and even rides Jason, who prances up to the crowd. Madonna also pays tribute to Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love' (which conveniently shares the same bassline ;-) intertwining the verses seamlessly with those of Future Lovers.

A-Side of new Mazzy single released Oct. 2011. B-side, "Lay Myself Down", I uploaded to You Tube earlier, as it was findable online earlier. (I see some sites now refer to the single as having double-A sides, & no B-side). I now have two different YT uploads of Lay Myself Down available. The first one's here: www.youtube.com It was recorded from the streamed audio at a lower volume level than I'd have liked (my error). Depending on listeners' audio set-ups, this could pose a listening problem, or be an annoyance (or not), so I've uploaded a 2nd recording of Lay Myself Down here: www.youtube.com with volume pre-cranked, ie it's recorded at a louder volume level. Two to choose from! The two new songs, on Mazzy Star's own new Indie label, Rhymes of an Hour Records, are officially available to purchase online as of Oct. 31, 2011. There's also a very nice 7" 33rpm transparent blue vinyl record of the two new songs available. It was supposed to be released Oct. 2011 like the digital versions, but was delayed till 2012. Retailers are selling it now. I received one in the mail last week. Shop around & you can avoid ebay gougers, & retailers who charge inflated shipping charges. Mazzy's an Indie band now. Check out my backstage interview with Relient K lead singer Matt Thiessen. Relient K is a Christian rock band from Canton, Ohio. Their big break came in 1999 when the band was discovered by tobyMac. Soon after the band was signed and released their self titled debut, introducing the world to Relient K.
