Moscow and Washington say they hope FBI arrests of alleged Russian agents will not affect relations between the two. The controversy comes just after a meeting between the US and Russian Presidents. Former MI5 officer Annie Mashon says an inside game among US intelligence agencies could be behind the timing of these arrests.

Никому из задержанных обвинение в шпионаже пока официально не предъявлялось. По данным СМИ, восемь арестованных обвиняются в отмывании денег, за что им грозит 20 лет заключения. Обвинительный иск поступил 28-го июня в суд по южному округу штата Нью-Йорк. Обвинение считает, что имеющиеся улики "просты и убедительны". Кстати, во время предварительных слушаний судья лишила задержанных шанса выйти под залог.

The British security service has launched an investigation into the UK links of one of the eleven people accused of being a Russian agent in the US The Russian-born 28 year-old, Anna Chapman, had lived in Britain for almost five years.

One of the defendants in an alleged Russian spy ring has been released on bail after a hearing in New York. Journalist Vicky Pelaez is one of eleven suspects facing charges, and US prosecutors claim another suspect has admitted working for the Russian intelligence service.

As the spy intrigue between Moscow and Washington gets more twisted, RT spoke to US Congressman Dana Rohrabacher about current American policy towards Russia and other burning political issues. "The ultimate goal may well have been that these [ten alleged Russian spies] were being implanted into the American society in order so that they later on put themselves in a position to get jobs in our own intelligence service, in the CIA," Mr. Rohrabacher told RT.

It's the latest twist in the summer's big spy scandal. A Russian newspaper says it's discovered the identity of the man who exposed 11 Russian agents working in the US. The 'Kommersant' daily claims it was a former foreign intelligence service employee, but so far there's been no official comment. RT's Yegor Piskunov reports. One of the arrested individuals in the 'deep cover spy ring' case, Anna Chapman, was said to have "met with an individual purporting to be a Russian Government official in Manhattan, New York, at which she received a fraudulent passport," according to the official criminal report. Chapman was also arrested for apparently using her laptop computer inside of a New York City coffee shop at the same time that a Russian Government official was driving by in a minivan. Moscow has already called the charges "contradictory," and is demanding more information on the criminal proceedings from their US counterparts.

According to the paper, the ten people expelled from the US on espionage charges, were turned in by their own boss.
