Howard Leight "Impact Sport" Earmuff review by Nutnfancy

The HW "Impact Sport" models are excellent high value electronic earmuffs for the money. Proven in many shoots in TNP, they are adequately durable, fast responding, stable during movement, and have good battery life. Moreover I prefer the single battery compartment of this model and the single and easy-to-use volume control with auto turnoff. If you're looking for mil-spec tactical earmuffs with comms integration, these probably aren't the best choice. For that capability you will pay about 5 to 10 times the price of these Impact Sports. But for most users they will function well for the reasonable cost paid.//////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 9 out of 10 (price considered)/////////////// Music: www.torley.com

Shotgun impacts in slow motion - The Slow Mo Guys

PULL! A Slow Mo Guys subscriber wanted to see some slow motion clay pigeon shooting. Gav and Dan would probably be pretty shoddy at the task, so enlisted the help of Barry the farmer and his shotgun. It's amazing to see the spread of the lead shot, and the speed that it moves even in slow motion! Naturally, we also destroyed some perfectly good fruit.

Chicxulub impact visualization

A visualization of the immediate and long-term environmental effects of the impact event which marked the end of the Cretaceous period, circa 65 mya. Produced by Radek Michalik and David Dolak in collaboration with the Science Institute at Chicago's Columbia College. I DID NOT MAKE THIS. If such an impact were to occur today, the best strategy for immediate survival would be to be in a different hemisphere when it happened. The kinetic energy of a six-mile-wide rock piling into the earth at 50000 mph must be conserved, and in order to do this much of this energy is converted to thermal energy - enough to cause third-degree burns from seven hundred and fifty miles away, and to light you on fire if you are much closer. Little to nothing would survive within six hundred miles of the impact zone - note the "scorched earth" appearance of the North American continent at KT + 2 weeks. Other immediate effects include a major earthquake, an airblast capable of leveling forests and buildings, semi-molten ejecta raining from the sky and sparking global wildfires and, once the shockwave reaches the antipodal point of the Earth, massive volcanic eruptions which can last for many thousands of years (such as those that formed the Siberian Traps). A modern theory states that not one, but several impacts ushered forth the mass extinction to follow, including the impacts which created the Silverpit Crater in the English Channel, and Boltysh Crater in the Ukraine; though neither were as ...

3/4/2012 -- Asteroid to impact Earth in 11 months?! February 2013 -- Asteroid 2012 DA14

thanks to pinksapphiret for getting this out on youtube: Quote the article: theextinctionprotocol.wordpress.com Scientists are predicting that the asteroid 2012 DA14 has a good chance of colliding with earth in eleven months. Watch the skies in February 2013! According to RT, NASA has confirmed that the 60 meter (or 197 feet) asteroid, which was spotted by Spanish stargazers in February this year, has a good chance of colliding with earth. The scientists suggest confronting this asteroid with either big guns or, more strangely, with paint. The problem with either option is that there is no time to build a spaceship for the operation. A spaceship could either shoot the asteroid down or simply crash into it -- this would either break it into pieces or throw it off course. NASA expert David Dunham suggested: "We could paint it." The paint would change the asteroid's ability to reflect sunlight, alter its spin and change its temperature. However, even taking the asteroid off course could be dangerous when it returns in 2056, according to Aleksandr Devaytkin the head of the observatory in Russia's Pulkovo, as told to Izvestia in Russia recently. The asteroid's closest approach to earth is scheduled for 15 February 2013, when they predict that the distance between it and earth will be under 27000 km (16700 miles). With the asteroid zooming that low, it will be too late to do anything with it besides trying to predict its final destination and the consequences of impact. However ...

Climate Code Green Campaign - the impact of Climate Change on health (amsa.org.au/climate)

Most people now know that climate change is a serious issue, and have some understanding of the effects that it will wreak. Few, however, are aware of the extraordinary impacts that climate change will have specifically on health. Recently, The Lancet labelled climate change as the greatest global health threat of the 21st century. The World Health Organisation predicts that climate change is already responsible for over 150 000 deaths annually from climate-related natural disasters and conditions such as malaria, malnutrition and diarrhoea. In July 2009, for the first time, the Australian Medical Student Association (AMSA) adopted formal policy on climate change. In doing so AMSA recognised the threat of climate change and the huge ramifications it holds for health. This policy calls on the Australian Government to take meaningful and decisive action on climate change, calls on the medical profession to adequately prepare for the health impacts of climate change, and encourages all medical students and practitioners to become well informed about the issue. The Climate Code Green Advocacy Campaign hopes to demonstrate that climate change and health are inseparable, and that it is impossible to advocate for better health without simultaneously advocating for meaningful action on climate change. A Phd, he describes himself as a former climate skeptic who has been convinced by the evidence that this is the greatest challenge of the 21st century. Education includes a BS in Meteorology from the Pennsylvania State University, a MS in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography and Ph.D. in Meteorology, both from the Naval Postgraduate School. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI on Foreign Politics, International Relations and National Interest, and is a fellow of the American Meteorological Society. Skydiver's near impact and landing on top of a mountain

The purpose of this video is to show the importance of spotting, no matter where you jump but in particular in the mountains. The group was the 2nd to exit, the drop was at the wrong place (not a pilot error though) and nobody noticed until it was almost too late. It was pure coincidence and only the quick reaction by the skydivers involved prevented injuries or worse. I uploaded this video in order to allow anyone interested to learn from it and to help other people to prevent making the same mistakes. Some of you might say: "of course, I always spot anyway" but in fact, a lot of people don't, especially if they're not the first (group) exiting. Always spot!!! It doesn't cost you anything, certainly not your life! Blue skies NPS: 1. we know what went wrong so there's no need to remind us :-) 2. Audibles as well as AADs don't help in a situation like this as they are set to the pressure level of the landing area more than 4.000 ft lower. 3. Deploying the reserve would have been the right choice. However, as you can see, there was NO time for thinking and thus your body intuitively and automatically does what it always does: pull the main
