This is the first part of a planned 16-bit computer that will run entirely in minecraft. That computer will be "Hack" compatible, which is to say that it'll run code meant for the Hack machine described in The Elements of Computing Systems (a fantastic book that you should look up if you are at all interested in how computers work. Its website is www.idc.ac.il ). Some more info: The design was drawn up in a program called Redstone Simulator (does what it says on the tin), which was written by Baezon on the Minecraft Forums www.minecraftforum.net MCEdit ( minecraftforums.net ) was used to help clear off space and import the design into minecraft. The G3 Impact Test! -- We found an old Macintosh G3 Computer that one of the Emerson College computer labs were throwing out - so we took it home, and scavenged it for parts. The motherboard was broken, the PSU at least 8 years old, and the RAM and HDDs had already been removed. With no useful parts to be found, the next logical step was to get rid of the rest of it! There is a 45 foot cliff in Nahant, MA that seemed like the best way to do this. We recorded video with two low-quality digital cameras, and took still photos as well. Afterwards, we cleaned up all of the pieces, and disposed of them properly - so as not to pollute the beautiful waters of the North Shore... which were a good 15-20 feet from the impact site.
