Александр Михайлович Овечкин (17 сентября 1985, Москва) — российский профессиональный хоккеист, левый нападающий клуба НХЛ «Вашингтон Кэпиталз». Прежде Овечкин играл в Суперлиге за московское «Динамо». В американском клубе Александр провёл 5 сезонов и является капитаном. Был задрафтован в 2004 году, став вторым после Ковальчука российским хоккеистом, выбранным под общим первым номером. В январе 2008 года Овечкин подписал с «Вашингтоном» 13-летний контракт на сумму 124 млн долларов, став, тем самым, первым хоккеистом, заключившим контракт более чем на 100 миллионов. В НХЛ Александр дебютировал в сезоне 2005—2006, получив по итогам первого сезона «Колдер Трофи», обойдя в голосовании Сидни Кросби. Ovechkin, who scored in the loss, is being asked to discuss his hit on Michalek at 4:05 into the second period. The Caps' forward appeared to have left his feet and made contact with Michalek's head as he hit the Pens' defenseman in the corner behind Pittsburgh's net. Ovechkin's hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
